Overviews of Singularity Concepts
The Spike: How Our Lives Are Being Transformed By Rapidly Advancing Technologies
I recomend this book to pretty much everyone. While it’s nowhere near as well known as Kurzweil’s ‘Singularity is Near’, it’s more accessible and a much better introduction. Everyone I’ve given it to consumed the thing, whereas the few people I’ve gifted Kurzweil’s tome to have yet to get past the first chapter.
The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology
That said, Kurzweil’s book is popular for good reason: it’s a good book. Much more detail oriented – still concise, but covering more ground.
Fundamentals of Artificial General Intelligence
Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid
This is another book I would like everyone to read. It took me multiple attempts, because it’s a very heady book, but it was well worth it. To call Hofstatder is genius is to complement geniuses.
